kirk, says:
The guy gets on a motorcycle that does 0 - 60 in 0.97 seconds -- without a helmet, on a busy sidewalk, with a minivan parked in his path 40 yards away -- acknowledging that he's not the usual driver of the vehicle, and he lives through the consequences? He should be nominated for the "Intelligent Design Award," given to people/ideas who continue to exist in spite of all logic to the contrary.

I didn't realize he actually lived. I figured them loading him into the ambulance was just sort of for show. Wow.

James Scott, says:
His blog says "Got it slowed down to about 20 mph", so I'm assuming he means that's about how fast he hit the van...hard to tell from the video. That has to be the only way he could have survived - at 60+ mpg he would have been a gonner.

His miscalculations notwithstanding, what exactly is funny about a man getting hurt? Same kind of crap as "America's Funniest Videos." Such an ugly, ugly culture in which we live.

Mike Orren, says:
Susan, I think the humor in this one comes from the hubris displayed in the buildup. Without his confident prelude, this wouldn't be worth posting.
And since the Greek classicists first put blood to sheepskin, our society has shared, been entertained by and occasionally laughed at tales of hubris. We're just carrying on the tradition in the digital age.

Point taken, but still not funny. And why do I feel like I have a parrot on me shoulder?
