Favoriting contest: Discussion forum on Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed

Square Pegs

Want to see what all the hoopla on the film Expelled is about? The Dallas Philosopher's Forum is hosting a panel discussion on the film on April 29 at the Angelika Dallas.

Tickets are $5, but we've got a free pair for two PegNews readers. This is a favoriting contest, so all you have to do is go mark the event as a favorite (free, easy PegNews registration required). We'll draw two winners this Friday.

We'll even sweeten the pot a bit-- The event does not include a screening of the film, which you're encouraged to go see beforehand. If you're one of the winners, we'll reimburse your film ticket with cold hard cash. (Save the stub.)

I'm on it, Miko.

Have y'all considered giving out PegNews t-shirts to winners of UnContests and fav contests? And if we start a riot in one that leads to images of our arrests smeared all over evening news and internet forums, do we win any ad monies?

T-shirts are in the works. And we hope to get a lot of play out of your mug shots.

Which brings up an interesting debate. Would you (or anyone else) want a T-shirt that had your user profile on it.

Roughly like this, with the logo and some sort of saying on the other side:

This is one of those cases of a fine line between clever and stupid, so I'm looking for feedback.

Sadly enough, that would be kind of a neat bit. Although I'd feel a bit failed if it showed "Favorited by 0 users". Maybe we could pay extra to have that artificially bumped b4 print?

I dig it, actually.

Any debate on whether the profile is in front or back? Methinks it's too noisy for the front...and people could read my stats while standing in line, etc.

One request: can mine say "Verified Pegger" rather than User? Tip of the hat to staffer Brett Hoerner on the term, btw. If it were up to me, your shirts would say something like "Wonder what your neighbors are really up to?" - apparently that's too creepy. =p

Hey, I didn't invent Pegger, I just cringe everytime it's used in the office, because, well...

Strong supporting argument, imo.

Akira Sato Jazz trumpeter Akira Sato, by way of Tokyo, Japan and Vancouver, Canada, is an SMU faculty member and director of The Meadow Jazz Orchestra at SMU. He is also an adjunct faculty member at UNT where he teaches jazz arranging. Sato is also heading into the studio soon with other area musicians and playing at the Scat Jazz Lounge tonight. With all that he's up to, the least you could do is order a Scotch on the rocks and chill to some tunes. (Photo by flickr user arteunporro. More info
