New iPhone features

Square Pegs

Published: August 1, 2008

We rolled out some new iPhone features last night for all of you mobile fanatics:

  • My personal favorite is a tiny change that makes a big difference. When showing how far you are from something, we also tell you which direction. Even though we link from place pages to Google Maps, it helps when scanning a list of choices if you know the general direction you're thinking about going.

  • We added a new button called "TimeKillers." It shows you the nearest fun places you can visit -- Everything from bars to bowling alleys; from laser tag to rock climbing; from dogparks to zoos.

  • Logged in registered users can now mark as well as browse favorites from the mobile site

  • We went ahead and put in place a button for Restaurant Week -- Starting August 11, it will show you the nearest restaurants that are currently participating in Restaurant Week.

  • Many concerts with local bands now feature audio, so you can preview the band on the way to the show. (I'm so freakin geeked out over this. Welcome to the future.)

There's still more to come... Comments and movies are high on the list.

Yeah, I noticed the direction feature last night when I queued up Noodle Wave's phone # for tastiness. Doyle approves.

Only 1 out of 3 features I was geeked about made this update. =( All in due time, I tell myself...all in due time.

You'll get your movies and comments soon enough. Those took a little more thought and more ones and zeros to execute.
