Even more iPhone features

Posted By Mike Orren in Square Pegs on August 5, 2008

By popular demand:

  • Comments are now live on mobile to read and to post. You can also rate restaurants with a number score. (Posting requires free / easy / painless registration and login.) This is great for submitting a review of a restaurant on the fly or for letting your friends and neighbors know what's going on at an event -- things like unduly large crowds, cancellations and the like.
  • We've added "Deals." Find the nearest specials around town. We're also adding the ability to submit a special you find on the fly.
  • Movie listings have been deployed but you won't see them until we finish designing an icon. Look for them later today or tomorrow.

Except for the ads and our super-secret menu deal, we're probably done tinkering with the iPhone edition for a bit. At least until somebody suggests something we can't resist.

One question: Other than ScoD, is there anyone who would be excited about us putting stories/blogs on mobile?

And a note for the haters <a href="http://tinyurl.com/pniphone">in the iTunes store</a> who questioned our keeping everything but the geocode on the web vs. inside the app-- This is why we did it. So changes/upgrades can be made quickly.

Which reminds me: Have you posted your <s>glowingly raving praise</s> honest review of the app yet?

Not going to lie, this is already the app I use the most. By far and away. Thanks for such a great idea, and the dedicated follow-through that makes the app truly great. You guys rule.

Thanks for the kind words, Andrew. Did you start using us because of the app? (Noticed the recent registration)

Please tell a friend or twelve about the app and the site. That's the best way to help us keep doing more...

A couple more tweaks:

We now mark Pegasus Picks to help separate the wheat from the, um, less awesome wheat.

And we do have location-based ads. We're encouraging our advertisers to include special deals just for our community.

big digs in arts district remove the last of the old ross ave area history, dating back to the mid 1870s, when ross was a road out of town into the country on the way to greenville texas, and with the earth flying, these past couple of weeks, the old bottles and fine china of a once era are now gone for ever...kind of like gone with the wind, only move over for dallas in the future, while old ross ave and the arts district was ahome not only to the early african amercian slaves and domestices, it was also a home to the early french and belgum who mingled with snake oil traveling sales men from the north....the one lot behind hotel zaza is with out a doubt one peice of relestate that had belonged to the carrage and implement king back in the 1900s, and from the artifacts seen at the site, he did have a very good time, and so there is a follow up on the arts district and uptown area, for august 10th 2008, somthing you wont miss, but then again history is neat exsposed by the bulldozer in time.
