UnContest winner: Texas Rangers

Square Pegs

Published: August 12, 2008

One of our sales reps is a big Texas Rangers fan, but wasn't able to use her tickets for this Friday's game against Tampa Bay. She graciously handed 'em over for one of our users to take.

We did this one as an UnContest -- meaning that we dipped into the Daily You database and found the PegNews user with the highest affinity for the Rangers, based upon their reading habits.

The winner (by far) was Ben Dyer. He and three of his closest friends have some primo seats and a parking pass for the game.

You never know when we're going to land some primo prizes around here-- and the best way to enter is just by using the site. A lot.

Who knows, maybe Ben will get to see the Rangers score 17 runs and still lose.

Guess firing that pitching coach in the last third of the season may not have been the smoothest move. Hint: trade for good pitchers before the deadline rather than blame a guy who's doing the best with what he's got.

I lolled that they Ranger fan hopes up and Youk tore 'em right back down.

We received the following missive in our customer service email last night, from a young scribe named "Kurt":

Amazing how rag arm Corey Feldman can shut down the Yankees and your pathetic announcers mention the wildcard and then the Strangers get hammered by the O's and give up 10 to Boston in the first inning. This team will never win anything because they are so bush league !!
