Well, when a business makes it long enough you inevitably lose some good folks along the way. This week we lost two.
Chad Jones is one of the demi-originals who has been here since the TexasGigs days. Most of the time, we forgot that he was still in college and under age (for most of his tenure). Then we'd look at his desk and remember. He was one of the first staffers to really catch the groove in terms of finding his voice on the site, mixing the right level of offbeat humor without getting (too) mean. During parts of his tenure he was responsible for neighborhood coverage, and when he handed it off, he taught us all how to keep mundane city ordinance conferences from being boring.
Chad's off to Spain for a semester abroad. We hope he has a tiempo muy bueno and that he'll serve as our hyperlocal Spain correspondent while he's away.
Catherine Cuellar is leaving us after just under a year as managing editor for a gig as Senior Communications Specialist at Oncor. She brought on countless content partners in the last year; spurred us into doing more video; wrote your weekly love note; and exposed us to lots of local niche communities -- She was the first editor I've ever seen who burned through business cards faster than the sales reps.
Bon voyage amigos. And if you think you can fill their (flying horse)shoes, we're hiring.

And CC, have fun becoming a connoisseur of the ways old people talk to each other (about electricity, specifically).
