UnContest winner: Contours Express body wrap
Posted By Mike Orren in Square Pegs on February 13, 2008
Our latest UnContest winner is PegNews user EllenZ.
We picked her because a.) she's likely female; b.) she has an address relatively close to Uptown Dallas where Contours Express is located; and c.) she's demonstrated a high Daily You interest in business. That tells us she's a hardworking Uptown girl who could probably use some pampering.
So, thanks to our friends (and advertisers) at Contours Express Women’s Gym & Body Wrap Center, we're giving her a complimentary infrared body wrap worth $60-- although there is a February special offering them at $45.
What, pray-tell, is an infrared body wrap? Well, according to Barb over at Contours Express, "With these treatments you will detox, lose weight, reduce cellulite, relieve fluid retention, rejuvenate & much more while burning up to 1000 calories per treatment in a safe & healthy environment."
Sure that's ladies only? I could use some o' that...
Meantime, if you want to get free and unexpected stuff via the UnContest, make sure you are have your free PegNews registration, are logged in and are using The Daily You.

It looks like they mummify you and cram you into a coffin.

Apparently the mummification process burns up to 1,000 calories...
So, Pavel, for the low-low price of $675, you could be skinnier than you are now if you get mummified every day the rest of this month!! And you'll detox, to boot!!!

Seems like it would be cheaper to wrap myself in blankets and sweat quietly in the privacy and comfort of my own home.

Seriously, the first time I did one I was skeptical. I thought I might get a little claustrophobic, but I really didn't. Honestly, the time flew by and it was over before I knew it.

I was surprised, too. It doesn't look like it would be relaxing, but I felt great after getting a wrap.

My mother got me a gift certificate for a body wrap about a year ago at a place off Knox/Henderson. I didn't know what to expect, but it was pretty relaxing once you get over the fact that you're wrapped head to toe in Ace bandages.

I was skeptical about body wrapping as well. And yea, it's certainly not the most glamorous thing I've done for my body, but it really, truly does work. Women, if you've got cellulite in places you don't like to look, then get wrapped!
Though...I wasn't placed in a coffin. I watched Legally Blonde 2 and moved about on a Gazelle.

Hi all…I thought I’d post since I am the person who administers the treatments at Contours Express. So here is a bit more info for you…
Our Weight-Loss Body Wraps & FAR Infrared Treatments ARE relaxing and rejuvenating treatments that induce Calorie Burn, Detoxification and a jump start in your Metabolism. We do not do the “mummy wraps” as they have come to be known, and we do not make you exercise for an hour either! I have done those wraps in the past, and know first hand what the other posters have experienced, the good and bad.
Our treatments are administered utilizing FAR INFRARED technology. Infrared heat penetrates the skin and tissues and promotes the above mentioned as well as much more (please note that no chemicals are used). Other benefits include Cellulite Reduction and Skin Purification, Relieves Fluid Retention, and provides Pain Relief for many aliments and chronic conditions such as lower back pain, arthritis, fibromyalgia, etc. In fact, FAR Infrared Therapy is often recommended by Pain Management Doctors, Chiropractors, and others in the medical community to help patients manage on-going chronic pain. These safe, healthy and healing treatments will leave you rejuvenated and feeling just wonderful, while you burn calories and detox, REALLY!
We welcome questions, and would be happy to provide additional information or published articles on the benefits of FAR Infrared Treatments. You can contact us at 214-979-0500 or ContoursExpressDallas@yahoo.com…and we look forward to Ellen’s visit this weekend!

Well, I survived (and greatly enjoyed) my body wrap (thank you Pegasus News)! It was not the mummification experience I thought it would be; it was MUCH more relaxing than an "old-style" body wrap. There was no walking on a treadmill, wrapped in cellophane. This involved lying on a massage table, in a tube-type thing that came up to my shoulders. Barb, the technician, was very nice and helpful; she turned the temp up so that my lower body was warm and sweating. My head and shoulders remained cool, aided by icy towels on my forehead and a well-aimed fan. It was a great experience, and I felt rejuvenated afterwards! I was so rejuvenated that I joined the gym! I would recommend this to anyone.

Eating healthy, (which I found, most women have no clue what that means), and exercise, (again, most overweight women do not know what that means) is the best and only way to lose inches permanantly. Expend more calories than you take in. Everyone wants to take a pill, suck out fat, try to starve, drink shakes, and now lay in a heated box, wrapped in bandages, sweat some water weight off and be fooled into thinking that weight and inch loss has miraculously happened...Wow. Immediate gratification is all most people want. It's why places like Contours Express struggles so much. It's an amazing exercise program, when it's used properly, but unfortunately in this id ridden society, women who don't see results in 3 weeks blame the program and quit coming, on their way of course to the nearest Mart store to pick up their bottle of the latest diet pill. FAR Infrared may be relaxing, but come on, get up, move, eat slowly, understand what a portion really looks like, drink water (don't try to expell it), and quit looking for a quick fix. Work hard during those 30 minutes, really hard, work through the aches your muscles will experience, you will know the difference between pain and soreness. Stop when there is pain and educate yourselves for goodness sake. Stop asking advice from fitness experts unless you plan to use it, research its validity, and stop making excuses and defending your dislike of being fat to the very same people you are looking to help you. It's infuriating!! P.S. Can you tell I used to work in the fitness industry?
