iPhone mania tease

For those of you who care about such things, the new, cheaper, faster 3G iPhone releases on Friday as does the new version of the iPhone software (for new and old alike). No one locally has gone as far as the New Yorkers who lined up a week early, but there'll still be considerable local activity...
Not the least of which is our snazzy new iPhone optimized, location aware mobile edition that officially launches on Friday. (If you're clever, you can find it now and become a de-facto beta tester.)
To whet your appetite, here's a demo video. (No, not the most professional we've ever done, but the app is still in flux, so I knew I'd have to re-do it again in a week or so anyway.)
Regular readers know I'm very bullish on mobile in general and the iPhone specifically. So we're making a big deal of this. On Friday morning, we'll be at all the local Apple stores, plus a couple key AT&T stores, handing out free coffee and bottled water (courtesy our friends at Dunn Bros.) with stickers hawking our mobile wares.

they won't give you a trade in deal for the iPhone ... and keep in mind that this new "cheaper" iPhone will cost you $15/month more than the current version...

but texts aren't included. so a 200 text plan is $5 ... sure you can choose to not add that, but its an apples to apples comparison..

I just don't know if I want to spend that kind of money on a phone. I've been through at least 5 Razors during my contract - and that is a low estimate. It would be fiscally painful if I dropped this in my glass of wine...or whatever...
