David Finfrock is so old school

Square Pegs

Published: June 25, 2008

Spotted yesterday at Walgreens while picking up allergy meds. (Gotta love Indian Spring in Dallas: All the blast furnace of Summer and all the allergens of Spring.):

Cracked me up on several levels. The device sold appears to deliver emergency weather alerts. But not so well, if you read the reviews. And don't the Interwebs do this now?

And that tagline on the NBC5 ad is sooo melodramatic. Makes me scared to go outside.

I will never forget watching Finfrock during live video coverage of the downtown Fort Worth tornado (Three years ago? Five? I lose track.)

He was just barely able to contain his capering meteorological glee as tiles and glass panes were being lifted heavenward in the vacuum of the funnel cloud - all happening Live on 5.

'Course, I revere the man, as he's the only remaining link to Harold Taft, rest his soul, Prince of weathermen (and a really great TV presence of a guy).

David is about the only thing still decent about NBC5, I like the fact he handles up like a pro in bad weather, be it of the frozen or liquid variety.

Several years ago I ordered a couple of Midland Weather Radios from a catalog. Had one sent to my Dad and one to me. Mine never worked right, but Dad said his did.

I just got a new one (as yet still untested), a "Red Cross" style....and it is NOT a Midland!

I remember Harold Taft, he was good - but my favorite was Troy Dungan and his 220 bowties.

Harold Taft COMPLETELY ROCKED!!!

I haven't watch local news in forever... because it's such a joke and so poorly done.

The Magnetic Fields Quartet led by songwriter Stephen Merritt is resolutely "indie" so how come their music has been used in a Volvo commercial and appeared in the film Lemony Snicket? More info
