Here's one for all of our musicians -- In addition to helping sponsor our band database, Michael Roth at Absolute Rehearsal Studios is ponying up with two prizes of five hours of free studio time.
Absolute is an upscale new attended facility with state-of-the-art security, Wi-Fi and a lounge with a pool table to use to work out your writers' block.
Here's how to win:
- Make sure you are a registered user of PegNews.com -- that's a requirement for all of our contests.
- Go to the Absolute Rehearsal Studios page on our site and click the add to favorites link.
- Do the above before 11:59 PM on St. Patty's Day. (The real one, not the day of the G'ville Avenue festivities.)
We'll draw two winners. And here's a clue-- If your band wants the studio time, all of you should enter to improve your chances.

I have a very important question: if I don't currently have a band, but I win 5 hours of studio time, are there any restrictions on the type of band I form? I.e. is picking up hobos on the way to the studio a no-go?
Serious question: can I transfer the time to someone who could actually benefit from it? And is a small surcharge on that transfer frowned upon?

Call Michael or Chelsea at Absolute. I cannot answer for them but I am sure they will work with you. They are great people. I would encourage all musicians who are in need of a place to rehearse to talk to Absolute. They are building a music mecca over there and their facilities are awesome and will even include a couple of venues on the second level of where the studios are. Really visionary and should do wonders for the Dallas Music Community. They get it.

Sweet. Totally in on this. Wonder how many songs I could actually record in this time.

Meh, I'll cross that bridge if I come to it. Just figured other peeps such as myself (no band, but still favorited b/c it's free) would be interested in that bit of knowledge.

Scott, I don't think the studio will particularly care who comes in for their five free hours, so long as the legitimate winner is ok with it.
That said, I think we should enter the contest and if we win, make a deal with some local band that they can have the five hours provided we can sit with them, drink, and scream random drunken things into the microphones.

Pavel, I get the feeling our chances of winning a time-slot are increasingly lower as this discussion carries on. But I'm definitely on board.

Pssh, that would be unfair. Mike would never do that to us and our ragged band of drunken hobos!
