Internetvention
The scary thing is that most of the characters in this hilarious (NSFW) little vignette didn't exist when I wrote the first draft of the PN bizplan:
(NB: Had to remove the first vid because the apparently new Cracked player has no option other than autoplay and we don't do unrequested audio. Click the screengrab below to go to their site.)
Inspired by the almost-as-funny preparty:

Gotta say, no old media comedy brand has done more to turn around its image using the Interwebs than Cracked. Alfred E. Who?
Pegasus News PSA for the usefulness of newspapers
Here at Pegasus News, we make a lot of jokes about print newspapers, and maybe we've been a little harsh. The following piece offers a number of reasons why newspapers are still relevant, even now, in the digital era.

Favoriting contest: Joe Ely / Luke Rainwater at Poor David's
I know it must seem like "bribe-you-to-use" day here at PNWHQ, but we've got a backlog of cool stuff that we knew you'd miss over the holiday weekend.
Next on the list: Two tickets to catch Joe Ely and Luke Rainwater in an acoustic gig next Friday -- courtesy our friends (and advertisers) at Poor David's. We'll draw a winner from those who have clicked the "add to favorites" link on the show page by Tuesday at high noon.

Cool tool: Check out our "galaxy"
Just learned about a cool Flickr mashup tool called Tag Galaxy. It takes Flickr tags and visualizes them as planets in a galaxy and then displays all the photos on a rotating globe.
For instance, here's the PegasusNews tagged images from our Flickr pool:
Unfortunately, the Flash-heavy app doesn't create deeplinks to individual tags, so you'll have to enter your own if you want to play with this engaging time-waster.
Get exclusive VIP access to see Bill Engvall at Dave & Buster's
The Bill Engvall show is entering its second season, and to celebrate the man himself is putting on a premiere party next Wednesday at Dave & Busters (the one at Walnut Hill & 75). It's an invitation-only event, with free eats, a meet-n-greet with Bill and a showing of the first episode. We've got ten invites to hand out, each one good for you plus a guest. The first ten people to click the "add to favorites" link on the event page (requires free/easy/painless site registration) get the welcome behind the velvet rope. First-come, first-served...
UnContest winner: Bob Schneider / Nathan Johnson at Poor David's
Our latest UnContest winner is PegNews user stars_smothered. She didn't enter to win, but she's getting two tickets to the Bob Schneider / Nathan Johnson acoustic gig at Poor David's Pub on Saturday, June 7.
How did she win? Because when our friends (and advertisers) at Poor David's handed us some tickets we went prowling around in our database to find the user who would most appreciate the prize. stars_smothered had marked both the Poor David's page and the Bob Schneider* band page as favorites, and we saw that as serendipity. She was one of three users to have done that, so we let the Random Number Generator settle the tie.
Remember-- the only way to enter the UnContest is to use the PegNews site features, especially favoriting and The Daily You. That way we can watch out for things we think you'd enjoy.
* - Yes, we know that Bob Schneider is not really local, but he plays here often enough to merit a band page.
