Favoriting contest: Let them eat cake

Published: May 29, 2008

For foodies, Iron Chef aficionados, and brides-to-be, NorthPark Bridal hosts a wedding-cake competition June 6-8 called "Let Them Eat Cake." Dallas-area pastry chefs will compete for "best decorated cake," with celebrity judges that include San Francisco chocolatier and author Alice Medrich, and pastry chef Bronwen Weber, herself a multiple Food Network Challenge winner.

Anyone can go and watch the chefs compete on Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. But on Friday night, there'll be a ticket-only party featuring cocktails and hors d'oeuvres, with tickets going for $75 each, to benefit Les Dames d'Escoffier Scholarship Endowments.

We have four pair of tickets to the Friday party four our users. You know the drill by now: Click the "add to favorites" link on the event page (registration required) and we'll draw four winners on Wednesday.

The decorated cakes will remain on display throughout the weekend, with cake for sale at an adjoining cafe. The winning cake will be announced at NorthPark Center on Sunday June 8.

Who's blaming? It was an FYI...these things happen.

I'd enter, but I have a distinct feeling I wouldn't have the best time in a North Park crowd.

@Scott: Just didn't want TG taking the rap for my typography. Shirts: Soon, I hope. We're a publisher, so it's practically federal law that all such products must be acquired on barter and we're still working out the deal.

So I'm here and pretty confused at whats going on. This ticket only event is out in the open part of the mall. And so far it seems that the ticket has only gotten me a wine glass (and some wine). You can see the cakes for free, and to try any cake costs money. So, did I just wine some wine???
