Fun with CNN’s 2008 Republican Convention coverage

Posted By Erin Rice in Square Pegs on September 4, 2008

The best thing about CNN is nearly always the bar o' information at the bottom of the screen. Full of facts that are rarely of any significance, they're often entertaining, whether or not they want to be.

Right after Arizona cast its 53 votes putting McCain over the nomination threshold:

And while Trace Adkins was singing the National Anthem opening up Thursday's convention proceedings:

Perhaps he's talking about Lady Liberty's bedonkadonk?

When did bedonkadonk enter mainstream?

Am I old yet?

Lipton: And then, Trace Adkins, in 2008, either the hand of GOD reached into your Brilliant Mind, or the muse contorted her lovely tushy in the midst of thy learned countenance. From whence came "Honky Tonk Badonkadonk?"

Adkins: Actually, it was an old protest song I learned while marching in South Texas with Cesar Chavez.

Lipton: If you have ever toured Dallas, they should name a street in honor of your grace and wisdom. Perhaps they will rename St. Paul where it intersects Cesar Chavez {spoken in long, overdone Spanish accent} to commemorate the glory of thy meeting.

{And... scene}

I'm more interested in your Konka TV, Erin -- did you choose that over the Panaphonic, Magnetbox and Sorny? :)

I knew somebody would make fun of my television, but I bought it for like $80 new, 20" screen, when I lived in Arizona (2005) and I've never had a problem with it. Boooooooo, Alex.

(And no, I'm not saying Booo-urns.)

You always get the best deals when you're buying out of somebody's van.
