“Timebomb” on Rock Band 2
Posted By Mike Orren in Square Pegs on February 20, 2009
I am bouncing off the walls. My favorite video game, Rock Band 2, just announced an Alt-Country downloadable track pack.
It features Neko Case, Steve Earle, Drive By Truckers, Lucinda Williams (anybody catch her show last night?) and our own Old 97's, performing "Timebomb" live.
Can't tell you how many times I've wished for such a thing only to dismiss it as too-cool-to-happen.

Easily one of the best track packs I've gotten for RB2. DBT is the easiest, but the most fun. Lucinda's track is great as is Neko's. Only clunker is the Steve Earle -- I like Steve, but "Satellite Radio" is more annoying to play than it is to listen to.
As for our guys, as expected, it's the version from Alive and Wired. Not the best version of the song, but plenty good. I was without my household vocalist last night, so I don't know how it goes vocally, but the guitar part is one of the harder ones in the game for me, but still fun as hell. But Philip's drum part is awesome-- easily the most fun drum song in RB2.
