A new day

Square Pegs

Published: January 8, 2009

In case you've heard the gossip around the Interwebs, it is indeed true that Pegasus News has been sold by our now-former parent Fisher Communications to a Dallas-based private company and that we're all pleased as punch. I'm sorry you didn't hear it here first, but as a private company our new owners aren't yet ready to talk publicly about the deal. And of course, the local media echo chamber beat us to the punch.

What I can say is this: Our entire team is still right here and is excited about the new opportunity. We're with good folks who are going to enable us to keep growing and bringing more enhancements and improvements to the site in the months to come. And we think that private, local ownership is a good thing in this day and age.

As always, we wouldn't be here without all of you who are here day in and day out helping us keep up with all the local and neighborhood happenings. Stick around -- we plan to be here for a loooong time...

I knew something was up when I saw Orren's wife April valet parking that Bentley at that day spa, wrapped in chinchilla and sporting chunky gems. When someone asked her about husband Mike she was heard saying, "You mean Big Daddy?"

Lord, Rawlins, don't start that rumor. I've only just gotten the "wealth management consultants" who started harassing me after the last transaction to understand that I still keep my dozens of dollars under the mattress.

But the Big Daddy thing: Absolutely true.

Lemme guess, you're gonna become a bank like Amex and two-thirds of America with a C2 Zoning.

Since I'm damn near positive my input is expendable, I greatly thank these...wonderful people!...for not banning me as soon as they took control.

Presuming the torch has already been passed and I'm not in a pipe dream right now. =(

I like it when I see my son is still employed. Don't have to pump up the spare air mattress just yet.

Then by the transitive property, does FrankO > ScoDo?

(I just wanted to say "transitive property". The opportunities are so few and far between.)

Congrats, btw, on being able to negotiate anything, let alone a sale, in the current economic climate. You must be some mad genius or something!

I'm thinking of hosting a "Hold on to your F'n Hats Happy Hour" at Al's bar tonight.

Celebrate or Pitty Party...

CoGo > FrankO

And i doubt that MikeO had any part of the sale... as far as I know, he hasn't had ownership in the company for a while now.
