Outrage of the day: Naming your child Adolf Hitler
Posted By Alex Bentley in Square Pegs on January 14, 2009
Okay, this ain't local, but I had to post it. I get mildly annoyed when celebrities name their kids such inane things as Kal-El (Nicolas Cage's son) or Pilot Inspektor (Jason Lee's son).
But celebrities don't have anything on Heath and Deborah Campbell of Easton, PA, who named their son Adolf Hitler Campbell and one of their daughters JoyceLynn Aryan Nation Campbell (a second daughter is named Honszlynn Hinler Jeannie Campbell, which could be an homage to Heinrich Himmler).
The Campbells gained media fame when a grocery store refused to put lil' Adolf's name on a birthday cake. Turns out this wasn't the first time the Campbells have requested something like this -- they've even asked that a swastika be put on the cake in the past. But how in the world were these idiot hatemongers parents allowed to name their kids this way in the first place? Aren't there any safeguards in the system?

Collin Gouldin says:
ya, saw that a few months back. I feel sorry for this kid, who's going to have to deal with this kinda crap his whole life.

Alex Bentley says:
Not necessarily, Clay, but if they can stop you from putting something bad on a license plate, they should be able to stop parents from scarring their children for life (or at least until they're 18 and can change their names).

"Campbell said he was raised not to avoid people of other races but not to mix with them socially or romantically. But he said he would try to raise his children differently."
That's absolutely hilarious to me.
Also, as I recall, they're on welfare, which adds even more funny to this.

Who wants to bet that little Adolf is waiting on the courthouse steps to get his name changed the morning of his 18th birthday?

Only if he's not incarcerated for killing and eating his parents by then.
I'm with Pavel. Rebel enough to throw that in the face of "the man".... that pays all your bills. Oh, impress me more.

Saw a bit on these people on t.v. news either last night or this morning. Evidently CPS has removed the children from the home within the last day or so. Not reported why, but there was almost certainly some sort of abuse or neglect involved beyond the (imo) abusive names.

Adolph was a popular name for childern in the 1930s in Germany, while after the war and the results of the Concentration Camps, the murders in Russia and all over Europe, Napeleon is a better name for a dictator to be realized...while Adolph for a child today... one hopes these comments can make anyone realize, it is not a good joke...kind of like calling your child Luicfer...the Adams Family may be funny but that was T.V this is real..A/T, ..Name observer.

Is this stupid? Yes, of course! Should some 'system' prohibit certain names from being used? You can't be serious! That's being almost as stupid as they are.
Some idiot does something we don't like, and we all want to pass a law or create a system to stop all idiots from doing it.
This will take care of itself. Quit micro-managing society!
Sure, I worry about the child. But I also worry about the children growing up in crack labs, starving to death, or being beaten. Let's create a system to stop that from happening.
If this kid survives growing up with his parents, his name will probably be the least of his worries.
At least it wasn't 'Sue'!

I personally support this kind of behavior. They don't thin the edge of the herd any more so names like this are a more humane way of stopping the bloodline.
Fight natural selection all you want, but mother nature will win by hook or by crook.

It's important to remember that free speech matters most when it comes from the unsightly. These people are sick and I hope their hatred turns their children away from them rather than in, towards them and their twisted ideas. However, they have the right to name their kids whatever they damn well please. I would hate to lose our American individualistic spirit (and the right to name our kids whatever we think suits something of our genetic inheritance is part of that spirit) to some hatemongers who use it to ostracize their children.
Interesting story, hope no one changes their mind about the first amendment over it.

Hey, it beats giving the kid Hitler's real name, which was Adolph Schicklgruber.
