As the new world of content sharing becomes more mainstream, I'm finding it less difficult (and necessary) to pitch folks on running their local news, photos, video, etc. here on Pegasus News, particularly since we don't ghettoize those contributions like many traditional media outlets.
However, Chris Silver Smith makes the argument more cogently than I ever could in his discussion of our use of his Grapevine Sun photo.

Excellent discussion. Thanks for the pointer. I remember thinking the photo was excellent and perfectly germane and assumed the link was more than courtesy, but DANG... the SEO angle is so "Well Duh!" as to be embarrassing. Thanks.
