These guys are so good its disgusting. One of the things that I love about improvisational music is the wordless conversation that can happen between two musicians. The video below is a prime example. Victor Wooten and Steve Smith have a bass vs. drum battle for the ages. Its incredible, its almost surreal, and its why these are two of the best in the world at what they do.

FYI. Steve Smith was the drummer for the 80's band Journey. Also, one of my favorite studio drummers. However, the first drummer on my list of bad ass drummers would be Vinnie Colaiuta.
