Mike and I decided to check out Pearl last night for the Thaddeus "Fabulous" Ford birthday celebration. It ended up turning into one of the great jazz jam sessions I've heard in a very long time. I'll have a review of the show on Monday, but I wanted to talk about Pearl for just a minute. The sound quality throughout that club was just phenomenal. No need to mic up acoustic instruments in this venue. High ceilings, hard floors, and no buzzing neon signs or televisions make it possible for each instrument to fill the whole room with its most natural sound. Pearl is what a music venue ought to be - all about the music.
