In this week's QuickDFW, Paul Salfen goes backstage with some of the artists performing at...you guessed it...the Wall of Sound Festival and asked them which bands they are looking forward to seeing...Click here to know what I'm talkin' 'bout
I'm just sick about Slick...57 that is. A real real real long time ago I caught The Lonelies and Thrift Store Cowboys on our stage at Buck's on the Brazos and my life as I knew it had ended. Jeff Dennis (formerly with Thrift Store) and I emailed back and forth about putting on our own music festival/campout and Slick 57 was on the "must invite to perform" list. I'll never forget emailing Ward about performing and he said "we'd be happy to perform at your festival. Our normal fee is $1200.00." I replied, "it's been nice talking with you, but I ain't got no damn twelve-hundred bucks." He then quipped back, "honey, you gotta negotiate a little!" The festival never came to pass, and years later I loaned them about that much money, so they did manage to get it outta me one way or another. I think they eventually paid me back by plowing me with free booze and cigarettes over the years, so it's all good.
Anyhoo, all this "misty water-colored memories" is cuz, I'm really bummed about the news that Slick is tossing in the towel. Their last show is...oops...I forgot this blog post is about Quick, not moi'...Read Liner Notes by Hunter Hauk for all the rest...

Aw, Cindy. Here you go giving Hudson all this love when I actually went to the trouble of interviewing Mr. Pedigo about the whole affair: http://www.dallasobserver.com/Issues/...
