This week's Dallas Observer reveals that Sam Machkovech and his writer-pals were the idea-men behind the new K104 local show, Uncut! Wow! This is a rarely told story...buuuuut...it was actually my idea for Kidd Kraddick to start a morning show!

Speaking of the local rap/hip-hop scene...here are a few links for audio/video we've gathered up here at TexasGigs.com...

Personally, I never tire of the "Sugarlight screws bands and fans" conversation, but Sam wraps up the horror here....

"Sugarlight's gone now, but the good music's still here. Hailey's hosted a great Spune Productions showcase on Saturday night celebrating the best in Dallas rock, and Spune's at it again this weekend with two big shows (see And Another Thing, page 61). Nothing--not Deep Ellum, not lack of radio support, not Sugarlight--will ever stop DFW/Denton from churning out quality music, but would DMF-size crowds return to Deep Ellum to see it?"

Speaking of the Spune show Sam mentions above, TexasGigs.com was at Hailey's from noon until dawn on Saturday webcasting the entire show for your listening enjoyment...I guess Sam forgot to mention that part...sigh...

Something I found of interest is Andrea Grimes' piece on Eric Grubbs' doin's as of late...

"For the past two years, Grubbs has divided his life between the clean-cut, chronically square world of alternate routes and construction delays and his book, a do-it-yourself, homemade volume about the evolution of post-hard-core music and (don't say it too loudly) that dreaded, much-maligned genre known as emo. It's called Post: An Anthology of American Post-Hardcore /Whatever-You-Call-It-Core: 1985-2005..." - Read it all now

You can click around the rest here. Frankly, I still find the new Observer site a tad confusing and way too time-consuming...I mean, I got work to do 'round here...

C'mon, Cindy. You know that them deadwood publishers can't afford to spill precious ink to comment on something like where to find the shows they're writing about online.

Long live pixels...

I'm feeling very blessed to be a part of this site right now because, even though I haven't gotten my spotlight moment yet here I know I will because y'all are covering what's really happening in all genre's of music here in the metroplex and we appreciate it. Stars will be made right before your eyes because of alot of this coverage and I for one will remain loyal to that. Keep "Let'n Em Hang" and doing ya thang...lol (shameless plug)
