This week's Dallas Observer music section pretty much covers everything we've already reported here....so I won't go over and over it all again...and besides...it's so freakin' cold in this dank little room I must use until my laptop is fixed that I need to get outta here for a bit. Go here to read it all.
THIS, however, did PIQUE (;-P) my interest...heh...heh...heh...
Cindy now blogs at The Fine Line.

So you guys have reported on the new Baboon record, the new Theater Fire record, the new Slowride record and those choads in Barefoot? Really? Or the freaking amazingness of the Lemurs? How about the V-Day lovefest from local musicians? That's all in TexasGigs, really?
And it's "pique."

So the Observer has almost 700 band listings, plus audio, plus video, plus blogs, plus VERBage, plus comments, plus fan photos, plus a calendar section that laid down end-to-end would fill the nearly incalculable amount of space between the zeros in Mark Cuban's bank account!?!?!?!?
SNAP! Oh no you did-unh!

Pfft. I was just giving Cindy crap for not digging through this week's section when I finally felt like I pulled off a good batch of local treats. But we can get in a fight if you wantsta. I've been playing a lot of Tekken 5 lately and am ready to pull off a down-down-left-circle-triangle combo at will.

Now, now kids. The Observer has many strengths. And we have some others.
In fact, I find it interesting that there isn't much intersection in that Venn diagram. I generally find that means an opportunity for collaboration.
Or, as I like to call it, "collabortition."
So we can snipe at each other. Which IS fun. And IS good for traffic. And is what most people would expect. Or we could do something totally unexpected.
I'm open to suggestions. Is anyone else?

I'm just being silly, I agree with Mike. Besides I totally suck at Tekken 5. Although, honestly that's just a guess. Man, I didn't even know there was a Tekken 5, that's how lame I am. But I had fun at this thing last year: http://www.texaspinball.com/

April always razzes me for my collabortition phrase, because I'm apparently the only one who thinks it's understandable. But, in case she is, as usual, correct:
collaboration + competition = collabortition.
And before any one else whines about my nonsense compound words, the uber-hip 37 Signals dudes also use "automagically."

What a boring lick-fest. I want an old-fashioned, knock-down, drag-out, blood-on-the-walls newspaper war, even if it's a fey, ghey internet version of one.

You'll prolly get your wish. But I always want to give the other guys a chance or three to reject the olive branch first.
I'm like Walter Lippman's assessment of US Foreign policy (http://www.unc.edu/depts/diplomat/AD_...
"Too pacifist in peace and too bellicose in war."
