TexasGigs.com News and Tidbits

Getting this new site up and running has been time-consuming to say the least. I've sorely neglected my blog...however, I plan to be more attentive to it from here on out.
Be sure and check out all the new TexasGigs.com Podcasts including audio and video! Alan, Mike and Alex were at the Carribean Grill on Monday night for the Rap Battles with HeadKrack and there's some great footage!
So here's a few little tidbits that have been asking to get outta my inbox...

Austin-based band, Octopus Project, is lookin' for a guitar player...
"Do you play electric guitar? Do you like to travel? Do you like "Octopus Project" music? If so, maybe we should get to know each other better. We're looking for somebody who:"
"1) Lives in Austin."
"2) Has flexibility to tour (most immediately March 20-April 7 and April 27-June 25)."
"3) Is really excited about playing guitar and bass and some easy keyboard parts in a crazy-sounds rock band."
"If this sounds like you or someone you know, please write us an email (OctopusProject@Hotmail.com). If not, thanks for reading and have a lovely day."

Shannon Nedved of Supercell fame has started a new band called Miser. Look for the new band to perform around town including Wednesday, January 25th at Liquid Lounge and on Saturday, January 28th at Firewater Bar & Grill.

One of my favorite Denton bands, Jetscreamer has been recording with Dave Willingham at the oh-so-fab Echo Lab and they kindly put up 2 songs for us hungry fans on MySpace. Look for their forthcoming album, Hinterland to drop in the coming months.

Red Monroe gets a much deserved great review here.

Good Records is hosting Adam Richman tonight for another excellent in-store. Be there at 8 PM. Speaking of...they are still perfecting the new location, so for now, you gotta hang at the Good Latimer store.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
It seems that MTV darlings and local rockers A Dozen Furies stumbled upon my baby-boy's band and asked 'em to open for them at Eisenberg's on Saturday, January 28th.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Local boys, The Foxymorons released an album in 2005 called Hesitation Eyes and it got reviewed in Pitchfork and an upcoming review in Harp Magazine.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Pikahsso loaded up some new tuneage on his MySpace...and you'd best hurry cuz you never know when that cat will change 'em.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Speaking of new tunes, Black Tie Dynasty just added a new track from their forthcoming album, Movements which is set to release internationally in April of 2006. Check it out here.

Hey Cindy,
The website looks great!
My name is Sam Henderson (Sammy Ray) and I'm the lead singer for Bright Size Life. I met you one night at the Gypsy Tea Room when I was playing drums with Deadman. Remember me? Anyway, I see that you have our band's info up (How did you get it?) and we'd love to solicit your help. Yes, we are playing at The Curtain Club next Wednesday (1-18) but we don't really have a fan base here. We need to get as many people out as possible on Weds. Is there anything else you or we can do to assure a good crowd? Thank so much, I love what you do...
Hope to hear from you soon...
peace, sam
