my thoughts exactly.. totally predictable.. I actually thought john stewarts jokes were really funny..

but the never ending plug of "you have to go to the movie theaters!" was really lame..

movies are dying.. cus widescreen and flatscreen and projectors and dvd's let you have a better film experience at home..

movie theaters are retarded..

It just seemed like everyone in attendance was either pissed-off or miserable just being there...Jon Stewart was pretty great...but I don't think those Hollywood types "got" him.

i know.. that was what was funny about it.. I was watching thier reaction and they dont know who the f@#K that guy is..

all the younger crowd got it..

and oh yeah.. that whats his name altman dude.. talk about classless!!!

he was endlessly talking about how he got the heart of a 30 year old woman... he doesnt even know anything about her(not even a thank you to her for her heart) but he was rambling how now he is gonna "live forever" and make more movies...whadafa?

that was really lame.. and he was a total idiot...i dont care how good his stupid films were...

and all the song performances were so bad!!!!!... I thought it was totally great how john stewart made fun of them...

I think the only good parts of the whole thing were:

  1. john stewart and his funny comments that nobody got
  2. Phillip Seymore Hoffman's acceptance speech
  3. Brokeback not winning anything (except throwaway best director)
  4. Reese Witherspoon's acceptance speech (and her husband thanking god secretly that this circus will finally be over)
  5. Everyone clapping for Joaquin Phoenix who could/should have won (eh.. he will win for something in the next 5 years anyway.. it was phil's night to win)

The "go to the movies" stuff bugged me too. We watched the Academy president earlier in the day on AMC's Sunday talkshow, and he was bragging about how they had a really innovative plan to drive ratings this year.

The plan?

"Buy a lot of TV ad time."

Brilliant.

Don't forget the part where they came back from commercial and Jon Stewart was preaching to the crowd about Scientology! I spewed my Kool-Aid on that one! Priceless...

The Oscars were on last night? How about that. I was eating oranges and watching old movies back when they made good movies. (Anthony Mann kicks Ang Lee's ass.) Damn good oranges, too. I cannot wait to get home and eat some more fresh incredible oranges.

I watched Napoleon Dynamite, the best movie since Raising Arizona.

Is it Jon or John Stewart? Fame is so fleeting...

I love that song, "Gold." The one he did with Lindsay Buckingham and Stevie Nicks.
