Bloggin’ Live from the Dallas Observer Awards

Posted By Cindy Chaffin in TexasGigs - Cindy's Original Blog on May 9, 2006

We are here front-and-center at the Dallas Observer Music Awards - with Travis Hopper, JD Whittenberg, Rob Stave, Mike Orren, Blair & Liz Lovern, Jenn Irving, and a slew of others. Pegasus Now just performed a stellar set and we await SaMach's "skit" who we've decided the two pictured above are a part of...or perhaps we are in the presence of WSJR!

More to come...

Salim Nourallah wins "Song of the Year" - The World if Full of People Who Want to Hurt You

Best Folk Acoustic - Fishing For Comets

Best Blues - Pops Carter

Best Roots/Country Act - Boys Named Sue

More to come...

This is very much off the top of my head - my drunken head -

Best New Act - The Valentines

Best Cover Band (and by far best acceptance speech) - Hard Night's Day

Best Folk/Acoustic - Fishing for Comets

Best Experimental/Electronic - The pAper chAse

Best Rap/Hip-Hop - Steve Austin

Best Female Singer - Kristy Kruger

Best Producer - Salim Nourallah

Best Venue - Gypsy Tea Room

Best Local Radio Show - The Adventure Club

Best Jazz - Earl Harvin Trio

Musician of the Year - Chris Holt

Best Instrumentalist - Chris Holt

Best DJ - DJ Merritt

Best Male Singer - John Dufilho

Best Latin/Tejano - Mad Mexicans

Best Hard Rock - Burden Brothers

Best Indie-Rock - Deathray Davies (thanks Eric -- I gotta hear it from another nominee who is over in Europe!...damn Chardonnay)

Best Metal - Fair to Midland

Best Act - Sorta

Album of the Year - Beautiful Noise

I'm still working to get the rest...damn Chardonnay...

I gotta say too that all the performances (Pegasus Now / Record Hop / The Theater Fire / Sam's All-Stars) were AWESOME! However, those rappin' Hip-Hop SaMach's All-Stars tore the roof off! Dayum that performance was fun! I'm uploading the audio of the All-Stars as I type...more later...this time without booze...

Cindy now blogs at The Fine Line.

You know, every time you put "More to Come" on a post it usually ends up in drunkenness. I think it's time you just move to denton.
