Jan. 31, 2008: Farmers Branch “State of the City” meeting

Work In Progress

Minnie will be hanging out tonight at the Farmers Branch "state of the city" meeting. Sounds like a blast.

Alex is working the city desk with his usual diligence.

Catherine will finish up the weekly newsletter (for distribution tomorrow) somewhat early today so she can take off for that town of cows to the west in order to meet with some folks in charge of the new Caravan of Dreams.

Laura S. is working on the weekend roundup.

John (yrs. truly) will visit the TBFF this afternoon to take in a couple of documentaries.

Erin will be brainstorming with Mike O. about putting together a monthly music showcase feature.

And that, my friends, is all the news-in-progress that's fit to print.

Akira Sato Jazz trumpeter Akira Sato, by way of Tokyo, Japan and Vancouver, Canada, is an SMU faculty member and director of The Meadow Jazz Orchestra at SMU. He is also an adjunct faculty member at UNT where he teaches jazz arranging. Sato is also heading into the studio soon with other area musicians and playing at the Scat Jazz Lounge tonight. With all that he's up to, the least you could do is order a Scotch on the rocks and chill to some tunes. (Photo by flickr user arteunporro. More info
