Featuring a fun run at 7:30 a.m., a flag-waving parade, free children's carnival games with prizes, live music, childrenâs art contest, and food at Civic Center Park (McKinney at Bell Street.)
At 9 a.m., parade will run through the Courthouse Square to City Hall for a flag raising ceremony. Anyone can be in the parade - decorate your bike, trike, wagon or stroller, come as your favorite patriotic character, bring a kazoo or make-shift musical instrument, wear red, white and blue or simply wave a flag.
Great Gutter Boat Race begins at 10 a.m., in which contestants decorate and race handmade boats down a rain gutter, followed by a Whipped Cream Eating Contest.
Fireworks show will be at Fouts Field at the University of North Texas. Gates open at 5:30 p.m., Rivers West begins playing at 6:30 p.m. and the fireworks begin at dusk.
