Denton Cohesion
July 8, 2006
This year's show will feature two stages for $5, including acts such as Sleezus Fist and the Latter Day Taints, Opaque, The Mad Scientists and idi*amin. Special appearances are also expected from Paul Slavens, Warren Jackson Hearne, Will Kappinos (jetscreamer), Christopher Largen (JUNK, Prescription Pot), Frank Heijl, and Craig Welch (Brutal Juice, Fabulous Badasses).
The birthday party will also kick off Cohesion's Second Saturdays at Texas Jive. Every second Saturday of the month will be a show sponsored by Cohesion featuring themed lineups.
Denton Cohesion is a collective of musicians, photographers, artists, and writers. They are not a booking agency, record company, or musicians union. They are a loosely organized group who pool their time and resources to draw attention to Denton's viable music scene in ways that have a positive impact on the area in which they live. You might think of them as a musical activist group.
During their first year and a half of existence, Cohesion has come up with many clever and successful ways to promote Denton music and foster a positive relationship with the community.
On the musical front in 2004 and 2005, Cohesion put together showcases that immediately became cant-miss events for fans of live music in the DFW area, and was also involved in putting on a day party showcase during SXSW 2005 - which put a dozen quality Denton bands on their first stage in front of an Austin (and as it turned out, international) crowd.
Cohesion's goals for their third upcoming year are to expand their reach both locally and regionally, which will help them further their promotion of Denton music and art.
