Dallas Symphony Orchestra
June 16, 2006
In its 14th year, the African American Festival takes us through an eclectic journey of sight and sound. This summer, the Dallas Symphony Orchestra takes us back to the roots of today's modern music by exploring African music traditions from which much of it originated. The annual free concert will prove to be a journey of musical greats and their contributions to modern day music... The pre-concert lobby entertainment featuring dance, art and musical talents of local African American talent starts at 7p.m. From the stage we have a concert performance by the incomparable Najee. Najee's "Smooth Jazz" is well recognized by jazz lovers all over. Conductor Vicent Danner will direct the Dallas Symphony Orchestra. Najee will take the stage at 8p.m.
