Fifth Annual Texas Guitar Competition

This unique Texas competition designed to showcase outstanding classical guitar students will award $6,000 in cash prizes to the winners. Over the three-day event, students can compete and attend master classes, a performance by last year's winners, a concert featuring Duo Stoyanova and Luis Leite, and a concert by Gabriel Guillén.
On March 16 at 8 p.m. the festivities will begin with the 2005 winners concert with 1st Place â Isaac Bustos; 2nd Place â Marco Sartor; and 3rd Place â Thibault Cauvin. The 2005 Winners Concert is free and open to the public.
Finalists will be announced on March 17 at 8 p.m. during a concert by Duo Stoyanova and Luis Leite. Cost for this portion of the event is $15.
At 2 p.m. on March 18 the finalists will compete before local and international judges. The finals are free and open to the public. The winners will be announced during the evening concert at 8 pm. The first half of the program will feature Gabriel Guillén - cost for this portion of the event is $15. The 2006 winners will perform the concertâs second half.
All shows are free to UTD students with UTD photo ID at the venue box office the night of the event. Discounts are available to faculty, staff, alumni, retirees and students. Call the box office at (972) 883-2552 for more information.
