The Tragedy of Carmen
November 29, 2006
, 2006
Meadows School opera students will perform The Tragedy of Carmen, the classic operatic tale of a gypsy who drives a military officer to ruin. This production is Peter Brook's controversial and powerful 1983 adaptation of Bizet's Carmen; it eliminates the chorus and strips the Spanish drama down to its core of four singers, two actors, and an orchestra of 10 players. The production will be performed in French, with supertitles in English.
Performed in the Greer Garson Theatre in the Owen Arts Center, 6101 Bishop Boulevard on the SMU campus.
