Tonight is the very last, beautiful, intimate evening we get to share with Doug Burr as our Fine Line Artist in Residence for the month of October at Club Dada.

The Doug Burr series has been extraordinary. He’s introduced us lucky folks to never-before-heard songs, the Psalms set to music, and reintroduced us to some old favorites. You know Doug Burr is special when even the hipster musicians stop talking and ask me, “I have to go on after HIM?”

Tonight Eric Neal will be sitting in with Doug, maybe we’ll hear some Lonelies songs?

Doug’s show starts at 8, please come join us.

Then at 9, the Listening To: show celebrates Dave Madden’s CD Release with special guests, Travis Hopper and Lovie.

Travis takes the stage at 9 with his wonderfully sunset hued songcraft and lazy Sunday afternoons on the porch with a beer sound. Yes, Travis is my friend, we talk about him a lot on FLL, but let’s get one thing straight people, I fell for Travis’ music first, long before I met the man behind such great tunes as, Four Pictures. But don’t take my word for it, Chris over at GvB says, “well-crafted, country-tinged pop gems” and the folks over at Americana UK say, “like its came from a session in the Westerberg basement [where] Ryan Adams and Tommy Keene showed up.” Not to mention the double digit number of glowing reviews. If you haven’t seen Travis yet, do it now, he’s taking a month off after this show and well, frankly, I’m not sure how long he’s going to stay ‘not national.’

At 10, meet Austin’s Dave Madden. The Austin-American Statesman says of Dave’s music, “If someone walked in mid-chorus, he or she might think it was a lost track from the Coldplay's "Parachutes" sessions.” His music is earthy, his songs intelligent and well written, his voice downright sexy in that whisper/raspy/creaky way I like so much. Show Dave some love tonight, if you like what you hear, get yourself a CD.

Then at 11 it’s Lovie! I’ve been trying to book Lovie to delight us with their girlie cheery mercurial pop-rock for some time and somehow the planets all aligned correctly. About 1000 years ago, in my younger days, I was obsessed with the Go-Go’s. More specifically, I was obsessed with figuring out how to be EXACTLY like bassist Kathy Valentine while simultaneously and unsuccessfully trying to convince my parents to buy me a 1964 Fender jazz bass so I could start a band. Fortunately I now have Lovie to live vicariously through, and I do. Their music is ooey-gooey, sweet goodness, with just the right amount of attitude to prevent any cavities.
