Eaton Lake Tonics / Airline / Telegraph Canyon

Sez Amanda:
Tonightâs Listening To: is sure to be a crowd pleaserâ¦even The Observer seems to think so.
Starting things off for us at 9 is Eaton Lake Tonics.
Youâve heard me prattle endlessly about them all month, but there is something you didnât knowâ¦Originally, back in June, I had asked them to be my Artist in Residence for September, then I got the David Garza callâ¦They were delightfully understanding and wanting Dada to succeed, agreed to step down as my AiR. However, I am a woman of my word, which is why they or Tony have been showing up every week but one to play. I simply refuse to screw people overâ¦
Next at 10, is the darling and gianormously talented AIRLINE.
I just canât get enough of these boys and it seems neither can you. But donât take just my word for it. A wise man once said, âSince their drummer Micah left the band, Robby has moved to bass and Chris has moved to drums. The result is a much cleaner, clearer presentation. Bluntly - Chris is a helluva drummer and his style matches every twist within a song spot on. Lead Guitarist Will was able to shine as the single strummer. Robbyâs new tunes are more defined as well.â
Finally at 11 is the always amazing Telegraph Canyon.
I had the honor of meeting these guys and gal thru Miss Cindy herownself and I am thankful every day. Though the first time I booked them I made a horrible booking error, they played for me anyway and actually agreed to come back for two shows I have booked this week. I love them but hereâs what Socket Shocker has to say, â"This is beer-drowning music, this is the music of depression and obsession, this is the music of life and love and happiness and heartache. Telegraph Canyon's music could be the soundtrack of a coal-miner's life, or the background music to a decade long-past, encasing field workers in the same train car as cigar impresarios. This is just plain great, thoughtful, capricious and original music."
See you tonight!
