A Dialogue between the Sichuan & Beijing Operas
April 7, 2007
This show features performers from top-notched Sichuan & Beijing opera troupes in China who will be coming to Dallas for the 2007 Chinese Cultural Goodwill Tour. They will perform excerpts from “Life is Beautiful,” showcasing stylized martial arts and acrobatic movements. They will also present the unique Sichuan-Opera face-changing technique. The show includes a performance of “An Overall Ambush” by Zhi-Yong Li, which has beautiful melodies with virtuosic technical fireworks for the Pipa, an elegant pear-shaped 4-stringed Chinese plucked instrument. There will also be an exhibition of traditional Chinese paintings by distinguished artists.
