Doss will discuss the multitude of memorials, monuments, and other public sculptures that were made in America between the Civil War and World War I, giving special attention to works by Augustus Saint-Gaudens, Frederick William MacMonnies, and Daniel Chester French, whose work Benediction is in the Carter’s collection.
