This absorbing and moving comedy-drama is part of the famous Texas Trilogy, written by Preston Jones and originally presented at the Dallas Theater Center in the 1970s before moving on to a Tony-winning Broadway run.
The production, starring artistic director Sue Loncar as the adult Lu Ann, follows the title character from her glory days as a small-town Texas high school cheerleader in 1953 to her disillusioned but resilient maturity as first a divorcée in 1963, and later a widow with a teenage daughter of her own in 1973. Life comes full circle when the mature Lu Ann gets a visit from the high school boyfriend she jilted in favor of the man who would become her first husband; the world for a moment seems to spin on the question of what might have been. The production will be directed by René Moreno.
They rate it PG-13 for adult themes and language. Call 214-828-0094 for tickets or purchase them online.
