Dallas Video Festival - ‘Rusty Scruby: Beyond the Plane’

Filmmaker, Quin Mathews, follows Rusty Scruby around, documenting his unique method of threading photographs and sketches to create art for a show. Rusty grew up on the island of Kwajalein, where the government tested missles over the ocean. He was interested in machinery as a child and went to school for aerospace engineering. He soon realized he was more interested in studying music composition. With his obsession of composition and numbers, Rusty has been able to combine these elements into fascinating art. He resides in his studio with his partner, and has been on a quest to show his art after much convincing. This documentary shows the process of creating his art/sculptures, using right & left brain methods.
