Home Movie Day

The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza observes International Home Movie Day by showcasing some of its film resources and inviting North Texans to share their own filmed memories. This free annual event, celebrated in over 24 countries since 2003, features an afternoon of public screenings and preservation tips from film experts, including Carolyn Frick, founder and executive director of the Texas Archive of the Moving Image and Home Movie Day co-founder Snowden Becker.

The community is invited to schedule an early drop off of their 8mm, Super8mm, and 16mm films at the Museum August 1-10. Films will be inspected, cleaned, and reviewed by film archivists before the public screening event on August 11. To schedule an early drop-off, you must e-mail a Home Movie Day organizer at homemovieday@jfk.org. Home movies may also be brought to the Museum on the day of the event, although public screening is not guaranteed. All home movies will be returned following the event.
