Dr. Hyman is a William P. Hobby Professor of History, Emeritus, and director of the Center for the History of Leadership Institutions at Rice University. He is author of several books and articles on the Civil War and Reconstruction, Abraham Lincoln, internal security evolution, civilian-military relationships, and the impact of modern law firms. He is also past president of the American Society for Legal History.
