Martini Party
December 8, 2007
, 2007
This event began as a brainstorm between Jeanine Jenniges and Denise Landers. At the time they were both Auxiliary Trustees and wanted to come up with an event to kick off the Christmas Holidays and to support the Auxiliary Ways & Means. So, the Martini Party was born as a celebration of the end of Prohibition. Prohibition in the United States aimed to achieve alcohol abstinence through legal means. The term is also used to denote the era of the Eighteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution, the years 1920 to 1933, during which alcohol sale, manufacture and transportation were constitutionally banned throughout the U.S. On December 5, 1933 the 21st Amendment was ratified and thus the end of Prohibition. The 1930's was a time of bootleggers and Speak Easy's illegally serving alcohol. The Martini Party is an event time for the ladies to dress in our 30's outfits, complete with hats and gloves and celebrate the end of Prohibition. Come on down and enjoy the party and don't forget to drink a martini!
