Don't forget that Salim will play Friday night at Holiday MIx at 8 p.m. at Lakewood Theatre as well. Thanks for supporting local music.

Don't have time for a full review, but some scattershot:
Hadn't seen Robert Gomez before and really enjoyed his stuff, particularly when the whole band and horn section got really involved.
I'd forgotten how much fun the Deathray Davies can be. They had one new tune that was the best I've heard out of them.
The Lollie Bomb vignettes between sets were a nice touch.
And wow... I've never caught a full and proper Salim set before, just short ones at benefits and the like. My admiration for his recent disc is well-documented, and it definitely translates live. Much rock-ier, which is a good thing. And as April noticed, the sound for his set was pristine -- you can definitely hear his producer hand at work...

Salim's cd release show at the Granada was the best show I saw all year. Very solid work. Great crowd response too. I was sorry to miss this show.
