2007 Collin County Junior Livestock Show

Known locally as “The County Show,” the event runs through January 13, and draws about 5,000 exhibitors, spectators and bidders each year. More than a dozen Collin County school FFA and 4H clubs will be participating in the county show with livestock, arts, crafts and food exhibits.

WEDNESDAY SCHEDULE

8 a.m. - Fryers and breeding rabbits will arrive. Fryers will be weighed in and the breeding show will immediately follow. Market swine will also be weighed in and be placed into their proper classification.

8 a.m. to 10 a.m. - Table setting and arts and crafts entries will be accepted.

9 a.m. - Goats and sheep will be weighed in.

9 a.m. to 11 a.m. - Horticulture entries will be accepted.

10 a.m. - Home economic and arts and crafts entries will be judged.

11:30 a.m. - Horticulture entries will be judged.

2 p.m. - Goats will be judged.

2:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. - Home economics exhibits will be open to the public.

4 p.m. - Breeding boar and market goats will be shown.

THURSDAY SCHEDULE

8 a.m. to 10 a.m. - Food entries will be accepted.

9 a.m. - Breeding sheep will be judged, followed by market sheep. Shop projects will be in place.

10 a.m. - Food will be judged and will be closed to the public.

2 p.m. - Market swine show will begin.

2:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. - Commercial heifer and steer will be weighed-in.

FRIDAY SCHEDULE

6 a.m. to 8 a.m. - Heifer papers will be checked.

8 a.m. to 4 p.m. - Home economics exhibits will be open to the public.

9 a.m. - Shop projects will be judged.

10 a.m. - Beefmaster, Brahman, Brangus, Santa Gertrudis, Simbrah, other American breeds, Angus, Hereford, Red Angus, Polled Hereford, shorthorn, Charolais, Limousin, Maine-Anjou, Simmental, and other registered breeds and commercial heifers will be judged.

4 p.m. to 6 p.m. - Home economics projects will be picked up.

5 p.m. American, exotic and English steers will be judged.

SATURDAY SCHEDULE

11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. - Barbecue lunch will be served.

12:30 p.m. - Special awards will be presented.

1 p.m. - The premium auction will begin.
