DMA’s Late Night Birthday Celebration
January 19, 2007
Stay up late for the Dallas Museum of Art's 104th birthday celebration. General admission is $10 or less, DMA members and children under 12 free. Parking is easy in the Museum's underground parking garage ($5/day).
Late Night programs are free with general admission unless otherwise noted. Some special exhibitions may require an additional ticket.
CONCERTS AND PERFORMANCES
Happy Hour featuring Townview Pep Band

Kick off the evening with a performance by the Townview Pep Band, drum line, and dance team.
Late Night Main Stage featuring Brave Combo

Author and self-proclaimed “comic book geek” Barry Lyga will discuss his debut novel The Astonishing Adventures of Fanboy and Goth Girl, the story of a teen comic book artist and the troubled girl who befriends him. Meet the author during a book signing outside the Museum Store following his talk.

Hear Dallas's hottest poets or share some of your own verses. Hosted by Tisha Crear of Reciprocity, Dallas's underground poetry cafe. Readings may contain adult themes and language. Spoken-word performances only; no instruments allowed.

Video Premiere: Faux Fox’s Nothing Gold
9:30 p.m., Orientation Theater
Join San Francisco–based director Victor Solomon for the premiere of his latest work, Nothing Gold, featuring the North Texas band Faux Fox. This seven-minute short film was shot on a permanent film set just two miles from downtown Dallas that is designed to accurately simulate An Nasiriyah, Iraq. Solomon has recently produced videos for such noted acts as The Lovemakers and Zion I.
Who Gets to Call It Art
10:30 p.m., Horchow Auditorium
Don’t miss the story behind the New York art scene of the 1960s, and the man who made it POP, Henry Geldzahler, then curator at the Metropolitan Museum. This unique documentary features interviews and rare footage of artists such as Andy Warhol, Jasper Johns, Robert Rauschenberg, David Hockney, and Jackson Pollock.

Art and Sound Tour
7:30 p.m. Be introduced to the art of sound design and experience original sound interpretations for artworks in the Museum’s collections. Museum staff and sound designers, graduate students from the Institute for Interactive Arts and Engineering, facilitate this unique gallery tour.
Talk with Literary Cafe Author Ross King
8:30 p.m. Tour the European collection and Reves Collection with author Ross King and curator Dr. Heather MacDonald as they share their thoughts on artists such as Manet and Meissonier and the birth of impressionism.
Insomniac Tour

Tour the collections until the wee hours with the Dallas Museum of Art's resident night owl, Deputy Director Bonnie Pitman.
