Schedule of events:
7th Annual Liberty 5K Run/1 Mile Walk
Check-in begins at 6:30 am, warm up at 7 a.m. Both 5K run and 1 mile walk
begins at 7:30 a.m. $15 per person, $36 perfamily of 3, each additional family member $12.
Yankee Doodle Parade
Dress up as your favorite patriotic person or wear red, white and blue. Check-in at 8 a.m. at the Wells Fargo parking lot near the corner of Hickory and Locust. Judging is at 8:30 a.m. Parade starts at 9 a.m. and goes around the Square to Quakertown Park.
Flag Ceremony
Located in front of City Hall, 215 E. McKinney, when parade
arrives at approximately 9:30 a.m.
Children's Carnival
Free carnival games for kids after the parade (approximately 10 a.m. - Noon) at Quakertown Park.
Lucky Horshoe Tournament
Adult singles and doubles divisions with consolation draws. Register from 8:30 - 9:30 a.m. Contest starts at 9:30 a.m. Contest is free.
Food & Live Entertainment
Listen to The Big Chill Second Generation from 9:30 a.m. - Noon. All-American food will be available for sale.
Children's Art & Crafts Show
Deliver entries between 9:30-10 a.m. to the Civic
Center. Entries will be displayed from 10 a.m. - Noon.
The Great Gutter Boat Race
Build a boat to race down a rain gutter. Race starts at 10 a.m. for this free event. A limited number of boats will be handed out on a first come first served basis.
Whipped Cream Eating Contest
In the park, immediately following the Gutter Boat Race.
Civic Center Pool Activities
Pool fun and games - admission is $1.
Five Star Fireworks Show
Show is located at the UNT Fouts Field. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. Live entertainment begins at 6:30 p.m. Event is free.
