Happy Hour French Wine Sampling

Enjoy an informal tasting of six Matisse-inspired French wines, complemented by informative discussion and select hors d'oeuvres. Each of the featured wines will also be available at the bar by the glass or bottle.
To participate in the French Wine Sampling you must be 21 years of age or over.

Tour de la Sud de France with Jean Muller
7:00–9:00 p.m., The Wendy and Emery Reves Collection, Level 3
Hear stories of past Mediterranean travels while learning French language basics inspired by art in the Museum’s Reves Collection. The Reves Collection re-creates five rooms from the Villa La Pausa, the collectors’ home in the south of France.
Literary Cafe with Ron Hall and Denver Moore

Authors of Same Kind of Different as Me: A Modern-Day Slave, an International Art Dealer, and the Unlikely Woman Who Bound Them Together. The story of how their lives intertwined and influenced one another is one you’ll never forget. Join the authors for a book signing after the event near the Museum Store. Proceeds from book sales benefit the United Gospel Mission in Fort Worth.

Hear Dallas's hottest poets or share some of your own verses. Hosted by Tisha Crear of Reciprocity, Dallas's underground poetry cafe. Readings may contain adult themes and language.

A Model for Matisse

When Monique Bourgeois responded to an ad looking for a “young and pretty night nurse,” it was the unexpected beginning to a surprising and lasting friendship with her employer, Henri Matisse. This documentary tells the story of their unlikely friendship and later collaboration on The Chapel of the Rosary in the French Mediterranean village of Vence—considered by Matisse to be one of his most important artistic achievements. This film is not rated. (67 minutes)

Matisse: Painter as Sculptor Symposium—Keynote Address
Friday, March 16, 7:00 p.m., Horchow Auditorium
Join renowned scholar Yve-Alain Bois, professor at the Institute of Advanced Study, for the Matisse: Painter as Sculptor Symposium opening keynote address. Bois has authored influential books on 20th-century art, curated important exhibitions including Matisse and Picasso: A Gentle Rivalry, and edited the influential journal October.
This special Late Night lecture is part of an international two-day symposium co-presented by the Dallas Museum of Art and the Nasher Sculpture Center. Register in advance for the symposium by March 15 and receive complimentary admission to Late Night, passes to the Matisse exhibition at both the DMA and the Nasher Sculpture Center, and reserved seating for the keynote address.
