Director Nelson George. USA, 2006. 127 mins.
Nelson George’s feature debut is based on the life of his sister, Ana Willis, and her work with a Brooklyn HIV outreach group. Willis’s regret over past drug addiction fuels her passion to help others, even after she lands in a situation that threatens her family and her health. Using both actors and people from the HIV/AIDS community, George—with substantial help from Queen Latifah—brings authenticity to this important story.
