Contemporary and jazz dance with an international profile take center stage. Faculty member Danny Buraczeski will stage his acclaimed work Ezekiel’s Wheel, described in The New York Times as “a balm for the soul in troubled times.” This emotional piece was inspired by the life and work of author and Civil Rights activist James Baldwin. Douglas Becker, a founding member and principal dancer of the Frankfurt Ballet, will restage one of renowned choreographer William Forsythe’s signature works. Completing the program will be the world premiere of a new work created especially for the Division of Dance by Joost Antoine Vrouenraets, a prize-winning choreographer from Holland whose work has been presented throughout Europe.
