Celebrate Fast Forward: Contemporary Collections for the Dallas Museum of Art with an evening of emerging music, poetry, and films.


CONCERTS AND PERFORMANCES


Happy Hour featuring Kathryn Woodard 6:00–7:00 p.m., Atrium Join Kathryn Woodard, Assistant Professor of Music at Texas A&M University, for contemporary piano selections by such composers as John Cage, Philip Glass, and Claude Debussy.

Late Night Main Stage featuring Mission Giant 8:00–9:00 p.m., Atrium Experience a multimedia performance by art rockers Mission Giant inspired by the Fast Forward exhibition.


Late Night After Hours featuring Black Tie Dynasty 10:00–11:00 p.m., Atrium Stay late for an after-hours performance by Black Tie Dynasty, 2007 featured artists at SXSW.


New Music Listening Party featuring Volta by Bjork 8:30–10:00 p.m., Sculpture Garden DJ G spins the latest release from Björk. Win prizes from the Atlantic Records record label.


SPECIAL EVENTS


Dallas Observer Appearance 6:00–11:00 p.m., Concourse Register for a Dallas Observer electronic subscription or e-mail blast and receive a great gift.


Literary Cafe featuring Keith Donohue Pick up free tickets at the Will Call table in the Concourse after 6:00 p.m. 7:00 p.m., Horchow Auditorium Inspired by the W. B. Yeats poem, Keith Donohue’s novel The Stolen Child, a Borders Original Voices selection, is a modern fairy tale about leaving childhood and the search for identity. Join the author for a book signing after the event near the Museum Store.


Late Night Open Mic 10:30–11:30 p.m., Orientation Theater Hear Dallas's hottest poets or share some of your own verses. Hosted by Tisha Crear of Reciprocity, Dallas's underground poetry cafe. Readings may contain adult themes and language. Spoken word performances only; no instruments allowed.

Matthew Barney’s Drawing Restraint 9 9:45 p.m., Horchow Auditorium Don’t miss this rare encore screening of the latest film by artist Matthew Barney, with a soundtrack composed by Bjork. (135 min.) This film is not rated. Due to mature themes, no one under 17 will be admitted to this screening. Viewer discretion is advised.

Twilight Tour 7:00 p.m., Meet at the Visitor Services Desk See and experience how art changes everything. In 2008 the Museum will open the Center for Creative Connections, our new learning laboratory for all ages. Enjoy a sneak peak into this dynamic new center with Dallas Museum of Art League Director of Education, Gail Davitt.


Insomniac Tours 9:00 p.m. & 11:00 p.m., Meet at the Visitor Services Desk Tour the collections until the wee hours with the Dallas Museum of Art's resident night owl, Deputy Director Bonnie Pitman.


FAMILY ACTIVITIES


Late Night Creations 6:00–10:00 p.m., Gateway Gallery Draw inspiration from the exhibition Fast Forward: Contemporary Collections for the Dallas Museum of Art and create a free-form sculpture. A variety of materials will be available for you to use to create your masterpiece.


Yoga for Kids! 6:30–7:00 p.m., Gateway Gallery Bring your yoga mats and join Arturo for meditation, relaxation, and some very pretzel-like poses.


Bedtime Stories with Arturo 7:30 p.m., Orientation Theater Kids, wear your pajamas and bring your pillows for Bedtime Stories with Arturo. Join our adorable mascot for some quality stories read by a talented storyteller from our community.
