The Latin American tradition lives in the Day of the Dead "altares" (altars) exhibition honoring loved ones who have passed away. Festivities will include Matachines dances and "Mojigangas" performance.

This Day of the Dead event is actually this evening (Nov. 1). The opening reception begins at 5:30 p.m. and the center is open until 9:00 p.m. today. The large puppets parade will be at 7:00 p.m. You can see the Day of the Dead altars from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm, as well as tour the new folk retablos exhibit of religous paintings on tin and Molas exhibit of colorful Panamanian fabrics -- both opening today. These events are FREE and open to the public.

WhitneyTM, we've made the changes to our listing. I think we had originally mixed it up with this similar event going on at the Ice House Cultural Center...
