Crook’s presentation is titled “Writing ‘The Night Journal’: The Ragged Road to Publication.” Crook’s third novel, “The Night Journal,” tells the story of four generations of women in the U. S. Southwest, blending history with contemporary life. Copies of the book will be sold after her presentation, and Crook will be available for autographs. Crook was born in Nacogdoches and raised in San Marcos, Washington, D.C., and Australia. She received her bachelor’s degree in English from Rice University. In 1991, her first book, “The Raven’s Bride,” was published by Doubleday and edited by Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. In 1994, Crook’s second novel, “Promised Lands: A Novel of the Texas Rebellion,” was also edited by Onassis. A reception will follow the program.
